Our first few FEAST OF MEN or F.O.M meetings were held at the Red Osier Landmark Restaurant located in Stafford NY about four or five miles east of Batavia NY. They have what is called a Call Cut which when we went they listed it as a 72oz prime rib. Now they list it as four or five pounds of prime rib.

So for our first few times going I thought the place was great. It had a nice atmosphere good place to take a date or if you want to take family out for a nice dinner. Nice soft music playing and at one occasion they had a barbershop quartet singing and shacking our hands as they brought out the massive slabs of meat.

Alright, on to the service, how was that? The service I felt was good. We didn’t have any problems although my brother and others may disagree when they write their’s but I thought the service was good. Our servers were punctual and were attentive to what we needed whether it was a drink or desert. I was always satisfied with the service.

As far as the steak is concerned, like I said, we went there a few years in a row. I thought the steak was good not having any other place to compare it to. But after venturing out to other places I have to say that it was the least desirable out of all the F.O.M meetings we’ve had. It was not as tender or as seasoned as all the other places we’ve been to and I wouldn’t go back for a steak that size if it depended on the taste. Now don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t horrible but having gone to other places it does not compare when you mix the size in with flavor.

Overall the Red Osier is a nice place to sit down and eat. The Call Cut is good if you’re looking to be wowed by pounds of meat on just one plate or having an eating contest. But if you want to be marveled by the size and the taste then you’re in the wrong restaurant.

Check back and I’m going to point you to the second best F.O.M steak I ever had. Not to far from Red Osier just west of there in Buffalo NY. God bless
