Finally something worth
going downtown for was a thrill for me because I never had a reason
to go down there outside of doing some paperwork. I've been trying
to get to Nick's for awhile and the opportunity suddenly opened up so
the family and I took a ride. Upon arriving, the parking was hectic
since a band was playing downtown. But taking a quick lap around the
block a space opened up right in front of the restaurant, couldn't
get any better than that, my hopes were high as we walked i... Continue reading ...
Old Stone SteakHouse/Belmont
I recently went to Old Stone SteakHouse in Belmont. The best part of my meal was the appetizer and that was just some boneless wings. The steak I ordered was a 14oz ribeye with it's so called "signature" butter on top was at best less than average. Not to mention this was the smallest 14oz steak I have ever had. I had a 10oz ribeye at the Hard Rock Cafe that was bigger than this. No flavor except for the butter on top, it would have been very bland without it. I didn't have time to ask ... Capital Grille
My lastest place of critique was the Capital Grille in Charlotte. Let me suggest you bring a sweater because it was cold. But when you go it may be alright since they will probably be warming it up inside since it's cooling down outside. Anyway on to the meat. I ordered the ribeye called the Delmonico Steak a bone in ribeye cut.
They use a sweet vinigerette on the steak and seal the flavor in with a type of crushed, almost to a powder, mushrooms and sear the outside of it which locks in ... Continue reading ...

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse/Charlotte, Baltimore MD
I've been to Ruth's Chris Steak House in Baltimore MD and here in Charlotte and they've got their act together. Both places I ordered the Ribeye, and again everything was a la carte and can get pricey but the Ribeye was worth every penny. They don't mind giving you a man size portion even if your a little guy. I appreciate the swollen stomach when I go. Just like Flemings Restaurant I have nothing bad to say about their Ribeye. You can't go wrong with it, tender, juicy and hefty when i... LongHorn Steakhouse/Gastonia
Ladies and Gentlemen, our first "GO GET IT," goes to LongHorn Steakhouse in Gastonia. Most places I go to the best steak is at the smaller less expensive places. I got the Ribeye there and it was great! I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was because most of the big chains don't have good chefs it seems. But my first bite was fantastic, no need for sauce although they gave me some and was able to finish without it and was glad to do it. Longhorn is easy on the pocket and load... Continue reading ...
The Gallery Restaurant/Charlotte
Okay people, keep in mind that I want a great tasting Prime Rib or Ribeye, it comes from the same cut. Any place I mention that I don't specifically write "GO GET IT," is not going to give you the wow factor you want. I want you to have a wow factor when you eat a steak that I recommend because that's what I want. The places that I say "GO GET IT," are going to be the places that, if need be, you will save up for just to go to once a month. The Gallery's Prime Rib was pretty good and th... Continue reading ...
Bentley’s on 27th/ Charlotte
Bentley’s on 27th has a great view and the view of my Prime Rib was great until I tasted it! It wasn't horrible and I haven't had a steak that was so bad that I wanted to spit it out. But in my search for the best Prime Rib ever, I want sparks and I want whistles. I also want my money back because for the price I paid for my meal, I didn't get any of that when I tasted it. By far it was plan and needed work. Now I know you pay for the view. But if everything I order for a price of ove... Continue reading ...
