The title Champ is here, is based on the FACT that I won the challenge
of eating the most out of 4 others who took part in this yearly event.
Although this is NOT an eating competition, we end up judging who has
eaten the most after we all have concede and weight the remaining
portions left on our plates.
We voted on Middletown, NY for our 2009
Feast of Men event to be hosted by Eddie Loren Williams. He chose
Charlie Brown Steak House, a well known steak house with a fresh salad
bar. My overall impression was this is going to be a challenge because
we moved up from 50oz to 75oz. When we arrived we were greeted by the
manager and seated a table that was too small for four giant size men
but we made due. We all enjoyed the salad bar but we were there for the
Prime Rib and couldn't wait; as the waiter(s) carried (2) plates at a
time to our table, everyone in the restaurant were amazed and impress
with the cut of meat. Myself, I was impress with the presentation and
how well the crust was seasoned. I order my cut medium rare and it was
more on the medium side but still very tasty. My disappointment was how
this Prime Rib was cooked! the toughness of the meat told me that it
was not slow roasted and that they re-heated the meat after we ordered
because it was very dried in the middle. Never the less I was able to
claim victory in the end.
My overall grade (rating) is 6 out of
10; based on the quality and toughness of the meat. If this was cooked
slowly over an 6 hour period, it would of compliment the seasoning.
The
service at both location was very attentive and inviting. They all had
questions; if we were football players, brothers, where have we been
and how we rate every experience. I think our event will bring
attention to these restaurant and something that they will be able to
promoted as well.
This takes us to 2010 and it was voted by the
committee that this years event be held at my located; the Holiday Inn
Oneonta, NY.
My plans for this event will be centered around
family, friend and the main event; a perfectly cooked Prime Rib, slow
roasted to profection! Please look out for more details as we get
closer to the event.
