The Palm/Charlotte

January 8, 2010

I revisited a second restaurant I've been to recently because I got some coupons in the mail.  The Palm has a 837 club membership and I'm a member of it.  I got my memebership free but it costs $25 to join the club and earn points everytime you eat there.  If you keep, I believe, 500 points on your card you get a free lobster tail for your birthday.  If it were steak we would be in business.
I told you before that I got the Prime Rib and it wasn't to good.  This time I got the 24oz Ribeye and again it wasn't anything to brag about.  Although it was better than the Prime Rib that I had previously.  They cooked it to order which this time I got it medium.  It looked good but it just was ok.  If you eat steak as much as I do, you have to have your seasoning down packed and cooking skills defined.  Both there steaks that I had were just average.  I cooked better ones at home and I'm sure the grade of meat I get is not as good as theirs.  In my professional opinion, and yes I am a professional, to have so many restaurants opened and the prices they charge they should have a better seasoned and more flavored steak prepared.  Capital Grille has a unique Ribeye and Flemings is outstanding when it comes to Ribeye but for some reason The Palm just doesn't have it down.  They need to revamp how they do it and have a signature steak that is unlike any other.  Right now they are living off their name.  You're probably saying that they must be doing something right if they have a bunch of restaurants opened.  Well they are they also are famous for their seafood.  But the is Steak Critic!  And their steak isn't cutting the beef!
At a price of around $95 dollars, and that is with a coupon for one person, normally it would be in the range of $120 I won't go back without a coupon.  The coupon was acutually great, restaurant week price for my wife's meal.  Everything is A La Carte she basically got an appitizer and desert for free.
Oh one other thing that will get me back in the door were their Three Cheese Potatoes Au Gratin.  May be the best I've every had!  God Bless you Happy New Year, Make sure you pray more the year!

LongHorn Steakhouse/Gastonia

January 8, 2010
I've been away for awhile sorry, but I went back to LorngHorn Steakhouse.  I haven't been back in over a year. But this time I went I got some Prime Rib.  They didn't have it on the menu before when I went.  I was with the who family this time usually when I write and give you a price it's for two people.  There were five of us this time, all three kids came. My wife got the Ribeye and I was tempted to do the same but since I haven't had their Prime Rib yet I got that instead.
It was good not ...

Old Stone SteakHouse/Belmont

October 15, 2009

I recently went to Old Stone SteakHouse in Belmont.  The best part of my meal was the appetizer and that was just some boneless wings.  The steak I ordered was a 14oz ribeye with it's so called "signature" butter on top was at best less than average.  Not to mention this was the smallest 14oz steak I have ever had.  I had a 10oz ribeye at the Hard Rock Cafe that was bigger than this.  No flavor except for the butter on top, it would have been very bland without it.  I didn't have time to ask ...

Capital Grille/Charlotte

October 5, 2009

My lastest place of critique was the Capital Grille in Charlotte.  Let me suggest you bring a sweater because it was cold.  But when you go it may be alright since they will probably be warming it up inside since it's cooling down outside.
Anyway on to the meat.  I ordered the ribeye called the Delmonico Steak a bone in ribeye cut.
They use a sweet vinigerette on the steak and seal the flavor in with a type of crushed, almost to a powder, mushrooms and sear the outside of it which locks in ...

Ruth's Chris Steakhouse/Charlotte, Baltimore MD

September 17, 2009
I've been to Ruth's Chris Steak House in Baltimore MD and here in Charlotte and they've got their act together.
Both places I ordered the Ribeye, and again everything was a la carte and can get pricey but the Ribeye was worth every penny.  They don't mind giving you a man size portion even if your a little guy.  I appreciate the swollen stomach when I go.  Just like Flemings Restaurant I have nothing bad to say about their Ribeye.  You can't go wrong with it, tender, juicy and hefty when i...

Flemings Restaurant/Charlotte

September 17, 2009
Flemings Restaurant in Charlotte had to be one of the best and average experiences I've ever had.
I went to Flemings twice because they only serve Prime Rib on Sunday so I had to go back and try it.  But the first time I went I got the Ribeye and this time I got the blue cheese crest topping on it.  That was the first time I ever got that.  This Ribeye was so tender and delicious I had to sit back and take it all in for a moment.  I mean I literally put my fork down and sat back in my se...

LongHorn Steakhouse/Gastonia

September 17, 2009
Ladies and Gentlemen, our first "GO GET IT," goes to LongHorn Steakhouse in Gastonia.  Most places I go to the best steak is at the smaller less expensive places.  I got the Ribeye there and it was great!  I didn't think it was going to be as good as it was because most of the big chains don't have good chefs it seems.  But my first bite was fantastic, no need for sauce although they gave me some and was able to finish without it and was glad to do it.  Longhorn is easy on the pocket and load...

The Gallery Restaurant/Charlotte

September 17, 2009
Okay people, keep in mind that I want a great tasting Prime Rib or Ribeye, it comes from the same cut.  Any place I mention that I don't specifically write "GO GET IT," is not going to give you the wow factor you want.  I want you to have a wow factor when you eat a steak that I recommend because that's what I want.  The places that I say "GO GET IT," are going to be the places that, if need be, you will save up for just to go to once a month.
The Gallery's Prime Rib was pretty good and th...

Bentley’s on 27th/ Charlotte

September 17, 2009
Bentley’s on 27th has a great view and the view of my Prime Rib was great until I tasted it!  It wasn't horrible and I haven't had a steak that was so bad that I wanted to spit it out.  But in my search for the best Prime Rib ever, I want sparks and I want whistles.  I also want my money back because for the price I paid for my meal, I didn't get any of that when I tasted it.  By far it was plan and needed work.  Now I know you pay for the view.  But if everything I order for a price of ove...
